Canes

You may find it helpful to use a cane if you have a small problem with balance or instability, some weakness in your leg or trunk, an injury, or pain. If you are elderly, a single point cane may also help you to keep living independently.

Quad Canes
have a wide base for added stability. The same cane can be used for right or left-hand use.







Side Walkers
(hemi walker) 

The side walker is designed for users with only the use of one arm or hand. The side walker is lighter than standard walkers and more stable than a walking cane.

Crutches

These are used by placing the pads under the armpits and holding the grip, which is below and parallel to the armpit pad. These are sometimes known as axillary crutches.

Forearm Crutches These are used by slipping the arm into a cuff and holding the grip.






Platform crutches
 
Used by those with poor hand grip (due to arthritis, cerebral palsy, etc.). The arm rests on a horizontal platform and is strapped in place.
